Visit of Department of Employment and Learning Committee to Include Youth and NIACRO by Anne

Anne shares her experiences of speaking to the DEL Committee

I was asked to do a speech and read it out in front of loads of “people in power” (politicians).  There were about 6-7 politicians staring at me during my speech.  It was nerve racking especially because people in power were listening to me.  How many people can say they have made their point in front of politicians?  How cool am I!! HA HA!

I was really nervous sitting there.  It all looked really formal and professional.  Every sitting place had a microphone and everyone’s name was in a wee name tag holder.  I felt special! HA HA!

After my speech my nerves disappeared a bit and I was asked questions.  I was able to answer them in a more relaxed way.

On this day I was speaking for all the young people on Give & Take.  How to make me feel even more special!  HA HA!

I thought I’d achieved something today not just for making people in power listen to me but for speaking for out for the young people.
